6th Grade Exploratory FACS

class in a introduction to FACS. 6th
graders will learn basic kitchen safety, kitchen equipment and
techniques for measuring and apply those skills in lab.
6th
graders will also explore basic sewing skill creating a pillow case. 6th
graders will also discuss the elements of design |

7th Grade Exploratory FACS

A
continuation of 6th grade FACS. Students
will build on skills and information from 6th grade including kitchen
safety and various kitchen skills, as well as shopping skills In
sewing, 7th graders will work to improve their skills as well as learn
new techniques while constructing a locker organizer. 7th
graders will also have a lesson on self-concept and personal values. |

8th Grade FACS

8th
grade FACS is a semester long class.
During the semester 8th graders will revisit kitchen and food
safety, work extensively in the cooking lab, and do various computer
based projects. In
addition to food preparation, students will also discuss nutrition and
wellness. For
the sewing portion of class, students will continue to expand their
knowledge by creating either sleeping pants or shorts. 8th
graders will cover a unit on basic check writing and balancing a
checking account. Students
will finish out the semester with a computer based project on personal
interests and careers. |
